Vacuuming the Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Some good feedback thx.

I think i'll just continue using my vacuum with my hand in the water and see what happens as they grow. :)

I guess i could always rig an extension if really needed or use a divider if my guys are crazy.

My Rhom, only recently started to worry me. He used to be so scared he would try to get behind the rocks to hide. Now he swims up and checks out what Im doing and I think he is trying to work up the nerve to bite me so I went to the vacuum with the long tube. I liked the shorter one cause it was easier to self prime, but he would do a bit of damage I think.

I think the key is training them from an early age, my fish are not in the least bit phased. I do two water changes a week plus I'm in there nearly everyday replanting or messing with something minimal. They like it when the waters being put back, they will swim in the stream occasionally if im not in there watching.

I wouldn't however start training them that after the hands/hoses are removed food comes shortly after. They have bitten my air line clean in two and leave some pretty nasty marks in eachother. But on the other hand one day one of them wouldnt move so I pulled its tail, thankfully my dim witted move didn't cost me any fingers.

If anyone its my two convict cichlids that are the biters. I think I need chain mail gloves the next time something goes wrong in there.

Well I Got 4 that are only 2 inches but I always have my hand in the tank, cleaning, ect. They tend to stay away from me or swim by me. They know what I am doing. Plus I feed them first. I was hoping when they get big enough to do more damage they act the same way.

with my experience in rpb they are very skittish even at big age. i think they will be more scared of you then thinking your food
