VAMPIRE CATFISH UPDATE

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow! Amazing. They do take pellets for this keeper!

Right but I was not speaking in general or making a trivial comment. In what I read (a while ago, so cannot point out where), it was specifically pointed out that they are known to suffer from dwarfism, or whatever you call it, in captivity. I would really like to understand how general this statement is with respect to just this fish. A few guys from Malaysia and Philippines on here say they are keeping them in a large pond. Hopefully they will continue their threads - have not seen anything from them in ~ half a year now.

This is the first ive ever heard about the dwarfism. Also havent had them long enough, nor do i know any long term keepers to compare growth to answer your question.

I didn't mean to say that it has been diagnosed as dwarfism per se but the outcome is the same. Yeah, I understand yours are still young and there is this utter scarcity of data as this fish is not commonly kept and even less so kept long enough to draw a conclusion... I wish you many years of keeping them and selfishly hope you will keep up your reporting every now and then :) Good luck, bro!

Yea this is one species where i have to learn as i go, good thing is they have been very cooperative. Seem to be fine with decent water and lots of food LOL. Lil fights every now and then with each other and my scomb but no real aggression or trying to eat tankmates. Had a few small plecos with thim and a lil spotted raph with no poblems. Ill be moving them again to a 125 as soon to a as i find the rocks i need for my 240 MARBLE GOBY setup. Probably put them in a 240 72x30x25 unless they really need something larger. Ill def keep updating hopefully i have them a long time. Funny thing is i put one on here for sale and got zero responses but sold it in 1 day on craigslist LMAO

I also have this cat..

This is my most favorite cat of all..

My only cat, actually.. =D

Looks like a combination of Payara, Wallago & Arowana..

Some more, it swims around the tank or stays at the middle, unlike other cat that lye at the bottom only..
