can any one help me i.d. my payara? also what is better to use to cure his problem on his lower jaw with him bumping the glass? i been using some medicine i got from the fish expert at the local pet store, but i seen and heard people using salt. salt as in the salt water ? any info would be helpful thanks again.
If you are using Salt water salt, problem solved. Hes banging the glass cause hes trying to jump out
Here is the salt you need. it also cures (from what it sounds like) everything that your having problems with. This salt helps releive stress on fish, speed up the process on healing wounds (fish only

) and cures Ich (the white cloud that builds slowly on a fishes eye or the white spots that form on fish that have no scales... clown loaches, in your case... scomb aka the payara you own).
Just follow the instructions on the box for beginers and as you go, you will be able to change things around a lil...
P.S...
Just a tip.... when I use the salt I pour some into a empty 16oz. aquafina bottle (or something that held only water<--- very important) and then fill up the bottle half way with HOT-warm water and it breaks down the salt faster. then shake the bottle till there is NO MORE SALT visible.
Then pour it in to the tank slowly or do the drip method (using a air hose...one side in the bottle and the other end with a knot ending in your tank. Adjust the knot for the flow after you suck some of the water to start that flow). Also keep your tank temp between 82-86* at all times. the heat and Ich dont get along
Hope this helps... oh yeah. Throw your Carbon back in your filter (for about 2 weeks then take it out or change it like your suppos to) to kill the Meds in the tank. Payaras are not good with Meds what so ever...
Salt is your/their best friend
Turn your lights off in the tank for a few days, that might be one reason he is bashing in the tank, unless you are ugly and keep scaring
him

(had to throw that in there

)
And you own a Scomb (do a search under Scomb for a lil more info)
