Vatf grow out

For my Sahelian tigerfish, the only none-live foods I've been able to get them to consistently eat are the freeze dried prawns. They are inconsistent with fillets and downright refuse pellets until after they've become quite accustomed to feeding off of the surface.

The Sahelian species are much more piscivorous than are the equitorial species and have all if the requisite difficulties one would expect them to have. You need to get them eating something pellet like if you're going to go the pellet route. The prawns fill that gap perfectly.

Ok ill have to pick up freeze dried prawns and try that, im not giving up on tilapia yet though wanna have as varied of a diet as i can possibly provide. Also wanted to add i either your moonlight idea has helped or he has just settled down no more spaz and circles on the tank, but he loves chasing my dolphin mormyid around haha

I have over 30 years of fish keeping large predatory fish and have never used a moon light and have never had a fish run into something during the night and get hurt or die. Fish are the calmest when the lights are off, except catfish and some nocturnal fish species. ATF's in question that swim frantically is because water quality is bad or they are seeing reflections in the tank or another fish in the tank is bothering them.

Before making such a broad statement such as "African tigerfish come from very dark murky brown water" I would have checked my facts...

I'll just use one example of Lake Kariba which is a native territory to VATF and said lake is regarded as a clear water lake.

I personally do not use a moon light and my fish do not spaz but if it works for some then great. Who am I to question something that works. If it calms the fish then I am all for it.

Also personally I have not seen someone put so much passion into a particular species and be so knowledage in them as to write such interesting and well written articles as Chicxulub and this is coming from someone who can very easily replace my VATF by driving a few hours up the road.

Update on my tiger
He's growing at a steady pace now, just over 6" eyeballed. Hoping to see now he's bigger for a confirmed Id. I'm thinking fatf anyway here are some pics.
