VATF or GATF with RTC?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldnt trust him, even when the cat fishj is too small to eat the tiger, dossent mean he wont take what he can get and do a number on the tigers fins. the tiger will stop growing at apoint, the can wont.

Lol a tiger that size would take like 5 years to grow out. Plenty of time for a sneaky catfish.

So if this is going to be possible then its much more likely to work with the goliath than it is the vittatus in your opinions?

No ATF is a good match for a RTC. This won't work. The RTC just grows too big too fast. The only possible way this could work is by growing the GATF for 3-5 years before adding the RTC. If you do it any way but, one of two things will happen: the RTC eats the GATF or you have to separate them.

That sucks :( I really like both of these fish! If I did grow out a GATF for a few years and brought a baby RTC would this work? Or should I just give up on owning 1 and get a different catfish?

I personally don't think this combo would work and wouldn't risk it. In the long run, there's very little that could avoid the belly of an RTC. Even the big GATF posted earlier in the thread would do little more than fill the belly of a big RTC. You could certainly try, but I feel that this will likely end in heartache.

A cat that either tops out at 2' or grows much slower than a RTC would be a better option.

I think a 3 foot RTC would have a hard time choking down a 20 inch ATF ..... tigers are very slim when small, but put on a lot of girth as they grow, but in all honesty it will be a very difficult combo, and they will only be able to coexist together after the ATF is probably 5+ years old

Yea that seems to be the verdict, I have a baby achara cat ATM, do you think that will be ok? I can grow that out with the ATF and when it's big I can decide if I want to try it or not, thanks for the advice everyone :)
