He knows when it's feeding time and comes to beg at the front of the glass for a few seconds and then starts doing laps around the tank and when the food drops he swoops in and grabs full smelts and/or pellets depending on what I am feeding at the time. He has sure come out of his shell the last 5 months and is very comfortable with his tank mates. He never used to grab floating smelts and now it doesn't matter as it's fair game anywhere in the tank and I think that pisses the RTG off as the Vitattus is fast and grabs more food faster!! I think the more he grows the more comfortable he gets and now he isn't too timid around the RTG like he was before. He still has to keep an eye out as the RTG still wants to try and bite him every once in a while. It sure was trial and error for the last 2 years to figure what tank mates work and don't work.
RTG=Red tail golden arowana
Awesome! Its one of those things where only an owner of a big VATF knows hehe. I miss the burst of speed from one side to the next and hit the brakes or a quick U-turn to get my attention. Very very unique fish. Congrats, not many big ATF's with a nice looking snout
