You say one is already 8-9 inches, you're getting a small atf. I doubt he'll keep up in growth. DB said it best, pick a species, a smaller one, and build the tank around its needs and add tankmates wisely that you know it will be fine with. And sorry if I came across rude but yes you were confusing me, out of those options you have do the one vatf. 3 would not be fine and an army will get to large if you manage to keep it passed 2feet which seems hard from others experience. Rays will get to large. I like to plan for what I have and not what I might be able to get. Because there's always a possibility something will happen and you won't be able to go any bigger.

Maybe a fatf would be better staying smaller and looking similar to a vatf

The vatf will be 6 inches ..... ill grow him out and see.... depending on the growth of him and my ray..... idt my ray will eat him .... so ill stick by this plan..... the ray couldnt even eat a 2-3 inch fish right now and barely touches guppy feeders that are an inch

You have LOTS of experienced keepers here telling you that you're about to make a very expensive mistake by mixing a baby VATF with significantly larger rays. I HIGHLY suggest you heed that warning, pick either the ray (which will NOT work long term in your tank anyway) or the tiger (which could IF you're smart) and build around it.

OH, and if you can find an ACTUAL 6" VATF for sale, I will be amazed. The incrediblely vast majority come in at 2-3". Tigers larger than that are VERY prone to dying in shipping.

I am an experienced hobbyist and my post count shouldn't reflect that which usually does on this site..... A 8-9 Motoro stingray will not eat a 6 inch vatf...... He may down the line depending on his growth rate but I won't be adding the vatf for a while ..... And the 1-2 I would get would be 5-6 inch rays ...... So moving on from that

I truly hope you're right. However, the wealth of knowledge and experience present causes us to be skeptical.

Maybe you're forgetting how slender they can be when young. That larger ray I feel will atleast try and, after, being delicate, may die from it. Wish you and the fish the best of luck, I also don't think you should get anymore days swing as you can't keep this one for good as is. Rehoming fish isnt always easy. Especially when large, not many people have adequate knowledge and space for larger species.

Rehoming some fish can be a pain but rehoming 1 male and 2 female motoros wont be especially considering that im not far from nj and thats were most members on here are as well as so cal..... worse comes to worse il set my 300 gallon stock tank back up or the 476 gallon pool.... i always have back ups available with all the set ups that i have ..... and then add the vatf ...... neither u guys or i can tell at this moment ...... we will see the growth and if i can tell it wont work i wont do it ...... ill judge when that time comes
