so far all i see this site advising (odball) is to mark his buisness rating . i would do so with a stern warning of the dealers horrid business practice. contact the bbb and look into legal action if u see fit .

Ok....I dont know. I just think its screwed up that if I know that a vendor is ripping people off, I cant go tell everyone else or give anyone the heads up. I just have to take a different route and report it, but not post it.

Then after like 30 people get scammed, then what? You still cant post on the forum and "Warn People". Honestly its nothing personal towards you Oddball. But I am just stating my opinion and I think that the rules here suck!:irked:

I would hate to see fellow fish hobbyist's get scammed and then they cant tell anyone else on the forum just because its against the rules...

I hate to see members get scammed, too. You just have to look at it from a legal standpoint. This site can easily be ordered to shut down if any post is considered to be libelous and/or injurious to a business or said business' owners.
We've already said to PM the info. This system has worked to get vendors permanently banned from the site. In case you've neglected to notice, the staff can be PMd, too. Once we see a downward trend in a vendor's business practices, that vendor becomes barred from doing business on this site.

All laws and rules usually rub someone the wrong way. We can't make everyone happy with all the rules. We just seek to find a balance that can protect the site, its members, and the vendors according to established laws and practices.

Ok so all we have to do if we encounter an issue is pm the staff and what happens from there?

No complaints.
But everyones different.

Accidents happen.. although we have no sure way of knowing this is the situation.

IMO it would be a good idea to let the person know what they have done wrong, in a adult manner of course. They might not know what they have done wrong and saying something can save them complications with other customers, you might even be greatly compensated for it. I remember not to long ago I ordered 2.5lbs of fish and only received 1lbs. I emailed him and he sent me more 2lbs so I got half pound for free and I would gladly buy from him again, everybody makes mistakes. If the seller denies your claim that's when I would decide what to do.
Sometime doing something is better that doing nothing

In this situation I would post a complaint in the AB feedback forum. Also like everyone said it would really help your complaint if you had pics.

The staff will ask the seller and buyer to air their sides to get the whole story. We cannot get the whole story if we simply ask one side. Like Oddball said, once we see a downward trend in a vendor's business practices, that vendor becomes barred from doing business on this site.

This was my first experience with buying fish from somebody over the internet, I knew I was taking a risk and I accept that. I will definitely not be doing business with this particular vendor again, since there is no way he can guarantee what he is sending me is as advertised after this. I did make a mistake by waiting too long to contact him, the problem was that I have absolutely no experience with this type of cichlid. From my previous experiences with cichlids, I know it takes awhile for mature colors to develop. So I was waiting for that.... I understand that after 8 months there is no way to prove that these are the same fish that the vendor shipped to me. I assure you all that they are. They were sold to me as F1 fry from wild caught parents.

Well I have been totally feeding these guys food that should color them up and nada has happened. It's been 8 months though and since the fish were 1-2" when I got them they have to be about 9-10 months now...

I'VE BRED AND GROWN OUT SOME RED SHOULDERS. MAYBE GIVE IT A FEW MORE MONTHS. I'VE HAD SOME NOT COLOR UP ON THE NECK 'TILL THEY WERE ABOUT 1.5 YEARS OLD.

Ok fine but dont wait 8 months to do it.
