Actually, I found a way to have it run direct in to the water for you.

I think Ill just stick with a normal bell siphon vs the "tipper". I Imagine its a little easier but I think I will go with a 3" pipe for the bell and 4" for media guard vs 2" for bell and 3-4 for guard. Not sure about adding hose on the bell or not though. I suppose it will be trial and error.

I would suggest going with both of affnans designs, The bell and the return. That will make the system MUCH quieter. Mine is very loud, but then of course it was just a concept build so I could post something here until I could finish my hood and grow bed.

I think that would work I could skip the extra step for aeration tho and just do a t with a lil pipe out the top and then pipe with holes in the water. only fish will be some minnows or maybe convicts since their a more healthy snack. but not exceptionally high fish stock.

What the air tube does is allow more air to be introduced to the bell area thus allowing the siphon to break. As for the air induction on affnans return, it HAS to be in there because thats what allows the system to first create enough back pressure to start the siphon then second allow air into the system to break the siphon when the low water level is reached. Don't change the design or it won't work.

I did mean the funnel and reducer as well as the high water level return. Both of those are probably the BEST two things I have found in AP for reducing sound.
