lemme tell ya.....Synspilum can look pretty sorry until they're 10 inches or bigger sometimes. I've had several of them, and they vary greatly. It's not like you just get one that colors up real nice, has a good head shape and body shape. I went through several until I got one I like.

I think female Breidohri females have a black splotch on the dorsal, so they're real easy to sex at a young age?

Did you contact the vendor, explain their condition upon arrival, and explain that both syns died within 24 hrs? IOW, have you given the vendor a chance to make any of this right, before taking this to a public forum?

Ya contacted him right away about the condition they were in upon arrival , no response, and then told him right away that they were dead 24 hours later with no response either. So ya pretty dissapointed

With any fish larger than juvies, I only do airport to airport.
The last time I used airport to airport, was with COA and I split shipping with a friend.
It was $80 shipping cost for 3 large boxes, they departed Fl in the Am and arrived in Milwaukee same day PM.
Even then though, a weather event could have prevented the fight from arriving at the guaranteed time.
But 2 days this time of year with a 24 hour guarantee (USPO), you should be able to recoup shipping cost.
When I have used USPO with a guaranteed time, I was able to recoup shipping charges if only 3 hour late.

I'm not sure what most people consider a reasonable time for a response from a vendor, but personally I don't think 24 hrs, or less, is overly reasonable. Sometimes real life gets in the way.

I have to agree, vent on here all you want that's the point of the forums. But I really find it in poor taste to call Dan out by name. I thought that was an unwritten rule of sorts.

I think the underlying issue is the shipping. For 65 bucks, he could have shipped fed-ex next day, rather then priority with post office. Fish would most likely have lived also.
