VERY interesting... am I almost snail free?

see now i had huge hopes that i could one day have a walleye in a tank with yellow perch... but being natural prey and all.. Is your walleye very active? lol i'd love to see a walleye eat a snail. something about that just doesnt seem right.

Owain my walleye is VERY laid back.. not aggressive at all im sure he would do fine with perch as long as they were over 4 inches. he was in my tank with a 5 inch perch for a long time they were buddies! now hes made friends with the clown loach.

Im thinking what I want is just some nice color sunfish and a couple bullys.. the only reason i got the walleye and large mouths is because its all i could find locally for natives. i think rather than spending 25 a piece on fish ill just go collect my own.

so if anybody in or near Mn. is looking for walleye or LMB over 12 inches let me know!

I "de-snailed" several native tanks with the services of a good tilapia. In fact my brother just lost a nice mossa last week. Snail eggs and small snails never stood a chance. I still hear the tiny screams in head......and laugh.

You need a freshwater spotted puffer, the snail problem would be solved in a matter of days.
Those puffers are not FW, they are high-end BW-SW. Really bad suggestion! :(

I didn't think so but I hate when incorrect info is posted.

Your loach must be lazy. I had a 20H with guppies for my daughter, thing was overrun by snails, thousands of them, you could barely see through the top 2" of the glass because they had it covered. I put 4 clown loaches 2-3" in there after like 5-7 days all the snails were gone.

well considering i had a bad snail problem also but in a 120 gal. tank with one loach.. thats 5 times the area to cover for one fish.. i think he did ok considering the challenge!
If i were dealing with 20 gal. id just dump it out and start over!
