Very irritating visit to a LFS today.

These are a few photos I took at an area LFS today.

The first is a discus, a black discus. When I mentioned that this discus was completely black the owners wife said "pretty cool fish, huh?" I didn't mention anything about the body shape.

The second is 2 (there were 3 the other day) nurse sharks in a 75 to 100gallon. I asked the owner what tank they were going into next and he told me that he was feeding them very sparringly in order to slow their growth and he wasn't sure what he was going to do with them next.

I'm no Discus expert but the one in the picture looks a little deformed.If that is the case then no it is not a cool looking fish.

I dont know why lfs should have nurse sharks. There arnt many people out there that can support something like that. I think they should be ordered as special orders if someone can actually house them for life.

I kinda agree with you but the people in charge of this place don't seem to be the types who would care who walks through the door and buys those sharks.This probably is'nt their first try with discus and there they were trying to unload it on some hapless customer.I think nurse sharks should be just as regulated as the leopard sharks are,they can't be legally collected or sold unless they are a certain size,which would probably make them less desireable to most would be shark buyers.

ABSOLUTELY ! Good point. That discus is on deaths doorstep... The sharks are just I can't believe some stores....
