There's a aquarium shop in Fayetteville, NC called Aqaurama that had a nurse shark in a 100 gallon tank for $1500. The poor thing was more than half the length of the tank and had to angle upwards to turn around =\ I hate when lfs carry species that neither they nor their customers could possibly care for.

Discus turn black when they're ready to shut down and die.

I have heard of a "discus plague" caused by a virus - wonder if this fish has it; if so the rest are in danger.

I dont know why lfs should have nurse sharks. There arnt many people out there that can support something like that. I think they should be ordered as special orders if someone can actually house them for life.

The guy had no clear plan for them other than starve them to intentionally stunt growth

Nothing is unexpected anymore but it still makes me so sad the way the average animal is treated, particularly our fish friends. Everywhere people seem to regard fish as below everything else and its garbage. The rights of animals are almost never enforced, and fish just seem to keep the same ****ty standards. Like I said, no surprise to anyone but sucks. Probably venting because theres a "wild" cat outside my porch for 2 months in the cold...so wild he was released by a moving neighbor..apparently.
