yeah the nitrates were high. but what would cause that? and what do i do to fix that? also the wood i got from the lake i caught the bluegill yesterday.

ya im betting there was some pollution in the wood from the lake, you should have boiled it for a while before throwing it in.

ok i was in lfs and they said my fluval 403 is not enough for my 100 gal. also suggested replacing fluval carbon with eheim pro. anyone agree or any suggestions?

Your only filtering that tank a max of 3 times per hour. Very low imo. Id aim for 7-10 or 700-1000gph. Im throwing a 1500gph on my 150gal kiddie pool.
