Not to sure about rearing, but most bird's ive incountered if you touch there babie's they will more than likely kill it, once a babie bird fell from a nest in our garden, my sister scooped it up and stuck it back in nest, however the male pecked it too death, shame but once your smell is on them i think it game over,as far as parents are concerened, think you will find alot on google...good luck

Thats just a myth. Birds have a horrible sense of smell, and are not able to tell the difference.

Ok since the babies were about 5 weeks old, I figured it was time to start socializing them, so I got them into a cage with their parents and spent the last week or so making sure they were hand tame and were able to fly and eat on their own.

I took some shots of one of our humanizing times this weekend.

this is baby(our grey and white pied) on the right, we are still waiting for the flight feathers to come in, but, have moved the bird to the main aviary you should have heard the cacophany when the other resident birds saw baby for the first time

this winter I will be totally redoing the bird room with laminate for the walls and attaching a whole bunch of latice to the walls so I can affix landing items, toys and bird nesting boxes. Thus far I basically gutted the room and set up the aviary. I found out very quickly that birds will totally decimate any real plants put in with them was kind of funny to watch my prize fig tree and other trees that I had for years get wiped out in less than 3 days.
