Great updates bro your pair is looking really sweet and I really like your male. What are u feeding? Mine have been growing like crazy especially since I gave them a 75, I wonder what it would be like if they had a 125. But I also feed massivore twice a day and replace the evening meal with frozen talapia or shrimp. My male is 6-7" now and female around 5. The female might have slowed down a bit from the spawning but my male hasn't. Well any way you ha e a great pair and keep up the good work

I really want to move them into a new tank...they are still in a 30l. I will put them in a 55 next but I have to move some stuff around...but im looking into redoing my 240 at home so the moving around here might have to wait since i might need some of the tanks. I feed them worms..hikari cichlid gold/bio gold...tetra sticks. Your male really put on some size! Mine is probably in the 5" range. I think they would jump up fast if I got them into a bigger tank. I mgiht have to get some massivore too...I havent tried that stuff yet.

Sometimes i have a hard time not feeding my fish lol. Ive cut back alot already and personally think i can cut back some more. i used to feed 2-3 times a day depending on the size of my fish twice for larger and 3 times for smaller, and they were pretty hefty feedings but i was also doing water changes every other day lol. now i feed all twice a day and less than half the amounts from before lol i do 2 water changes a week on the majority of my tanks now and since ive changed jobs my schedule at home has changed too so maybe 2-3 times a week they all only get fed once for the day.

Anyway i do think it has a lil to do with your tank size but like you said you have some moving around before you can do it which theyll be more than fine in there till then. but also i really like the slender healthy look of your male, he really glows. my male is just a beast and he looks good too but i dont see him slimming down lol and i guess i cant have my cake and eat it too;) if i had a choice i would like to have two, one that looks like yours and one that looks like mine lol maybe down the road or something as i dont have room for any more:) and your female is getting some nice red to her now.

Yeah I like to feed them too but I try to not over stuff and make them look like overfed pugs...not that its a bad look lol. I feed once or twice a day and being at work sometimes they miss sat and sunday. The female is definitely getting more red as she grows. I would like her to be the size of the male when I let them breed. I might brake down before then...

I guess you cant stop love. I came in to the office to do waterchanges yeterday evening and started on the RTM tank. I noticed the female made it across the divider some how onto the males side. So I had to move some deco arround and scoop her up to put her back on her side. As I was doing the water change I noticed fertilized eggs! So I pulled the divider to see what went on since I had already done a 50% water change on the tank and disturbed every one pretty good. The male seemed to be beating on the female pretty good keeping her off the eggs despite her trying to fend him off. I dont know if that is normal for these and I was thinking I think I disturbed them too much. I am going out of town for for a week so I didn't want to chance anything in such a small tank (30 long). So back in went the divider but I decided, since the female still showed interest in the eggs, to put her on the males side that has the eggs and put the male on the females side. So we will see how it goes...I leave tuesday and will return on sunday.

good decision swapping them and leaving divider for the week:) and im sure youll have fry when you get back. and dont worry theyll pair out just fine when you decide its time:)

Yep I think they will too...I just wasn't risking it with no divider for the week...I just know i would have come home to a dead female.

A few updated shots...my big flash batteries went out so no over head pics.
