**Video**Atromaculatum and Ornatus added to Festae tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As always, sweet fishes and setup Balton. Love all the fish in there...I definitely want to see more of the Ornatums. Anyways, post more vids and some pics when you have some time :D

Wow, that orange terror looks great even next to your beauty of a red terror. Atros have always been underrated compare to their realitives on either side of them (red terror and ornatums). I've always liked their pattern though. I do find it curious about the GT's though, with two other pairs much closer in shape and pattern ... and one pair in color to focus on, you would think the aggression would have been focused elsewhere. Keep up with the updates!!

Quick update: I'm having a problem with who I believe to be the female Ornatum. Her tail has been chewed down to almost nothing. All the fish seem to get along great when I'm around so I spied on them around the corner for a while. I think it might be the male Ornatum doing it, they seem to peck at each other while the other fish totally ignore them as if they're not even there. They don't outright fight, they just peck at each other like, get away from me. Obviously though, he must have gotten really mad and chased her around for some time to bite it that far down. She doesn't seem scared of him and they have a hideout together in the driftwood. I'm keeping a close watch on the situation, if it gets worse, I'll separate her until she gets better.

Other than the tail issue, all the fish really seem to get on just fine. They even all eat together without any incedents. Btw, I'm feeding a combination of 3 sizes (1mm,2mm,3mm) of sinking NLS pellets, sinking Omega One pellets and Massivore. They also eat the NLS algae wafers for the bristlenose. Only the Fesate will eat at the surface so they get some NLS floating pellets too. I'm supplementing them with frozen Emerald Entree and Spirulina Brine Shrimp cubes. Plus frozen krill and chopped up market shrimp. I'm going to experiment soon with veggies like lettuces and spinich, peas and zucchini to see if they like them. The Atromaculatum have big appetites so hopefully I'll get some good growth out of them.

Great looking stock and setup Balton! Hope itn works out with the Ornatum pair.

I finally got some decent pics of the Atromaculatum. I had to feed them to draw them out and one of them is still very shy. The more colorful one seems braver. I'm not sure which is the male and which is the female...I guess I should have asked Jeff. Does anyone know how to sex them? Are they like Festae whereas the female gets the brighter colors? thanx :)

Wow, great pics. The bright orange looks amazing. They seem to be chomping down too I see. Oh, and I'm pretty sure the one with the orange is female ;)

This isn't a good pic but you get to see the other ornatus. I can hardly wait until they develop their adult yellow color with blue spangling.

Anyone else have some input about sexing? On both actually. :)
