Sorry to hear the issues ☹

Syns looking great! I like my syns so much I'm contemplating getting rid of most fish in my 240, and potentially keeping just a pair.
I just seen it, I may have watched the thread but it fell off my watch list. I just commented so I will get updates :)

My unavoidable nightmare has begun....my syns has started pulling crypt leaves off a plant to close to his “nesting” site. He’s been excavating sand and pulling plant leaves. The good thing...only pulling leaves he feels are in his way.

Wonder if he knows that if he pulls too many leaves it will leave him in the open and not shelter him??A96002D0-057E-4C5A-9482-E57FD22E221C.jpeg7F837204-6C98-461A-B0D1-FED73C349213.jpeg

I got excite and thought the babies grew a lot, then I re-capped my pics of them...they haven’t had that much growth since the last pic updates. I do feel like they have grown substantially though haha

Little bit of glare on the glasss today but regardless, no changes really. Largest sysns is still pulling plants from his nest area. He has turned my beautiful crypt plant in to sparse leaves lol. One of the smaller sysns seems to be hanging out with him every so often (maybe a female?) still to early to tell

Measurements!!! All are approximate guesses, could vary as they are closer or further front the glass.

Big guy hovering about 9 inches still, getting some width on him though.

juvies measure about 4 inches, I think they are closer to 3.5.

and the female HRP came in at about 3.5 inches.

Small update.

sold the HRPS, sad to see them go but it was their time. The female was full of eggs but would not lay for my male in my tank, possibly bc of the tension with the syns. So hopefully her new homes allows her to de stress and lay eggs and not become egg bound.

I read somewhere about someone saying the sysn spin is when the fish swims upside down in circles, can confirm! My big guy does huge loops under the same plant

the youngest Ed ones have grown quite a bit, two are dominant and are out growing the smallest (I think the smallest is a female, the big male looked like he might have been trying to impress her today) the other two might be males as they looked to be trying to put dominant each other with head to tail slaps today.

Looking good! So what other fish are in the tank or are they the only ones?
Lol I remember my syns doing the circle swimming too. Nothing wrong with them, it was just something they liked to do.

It’s been a day or two since an update, no changes really.

One synspilum is falling behind the rest in growth rate, might be getting ran off from the food.

Still unable to sex them or even hazard a guess at this point. I did see two of the bigger youngest syns tail slapping at each other a couple of times, the oldest sysn once darkened his colors and shimmied like he was trying to impress someone. It was fairly quick and I couldn’t tell which one he may have been trying to impress . He may have also just been trying to show that he was the. Boss of the tank.

Your tank is beautiful!!! The little ones really crept up there in size and are looking great. Almost caught up to the bigger one.

hope you get a female out of the bunch so we can see phase two some day :)
