Just FYI, the fish in my first posts of this thread proved to be female.

Hello all,

Would you be able to sex this Synspilum by just looking at these pictures? I'm not sure about the venting process or how it works. I had a group of 7 and this one is the biggest and most dominant, so I'm assuming it's a male, but am not certain. I'm also very hopeful that a nuchal will begin developing soon. This fish is about 8 months old.

I’ve had one since February and got another one in March, the 2nd one quickly gained a little ground on my first one but my first one has always remained the more dominant one with sharper red and blue vs the bigger one who gets ran into the corner who’s got more of a Greener and darker tone so not sure who’s who yet! Waiting on them to mature...I have pics from venting them but still kinda hard to tell

At this point looks female to me, it has a non-steep profile, and rounded fins.
Of cours if you have more dominant cichlids in the tank, this could influence gender differences.
