imo, arowanas are best viewed on glass tank so i would prefer looking at giant fish such as arapaimas swimming on big ponds.

Freaking Arapaima, no question. Like sam_cj said, you'd probably enjoy an arowana more in an a glass aquarium. When you can't show off the fish's distinct features, you show off its size. Plus you can use it to help discipline your children, for example, "If you don't eat your vegetables, you're gonna go swimming with the Arapaima!"

my dad did that to us when i was young. now thinking about it, that was pretty dumb since all we had in the pond back then were kois
BTW, are there any arapaima books that can do further reading on? most of the info i get is from the net(dont get me wrong its a pretty good source of info). its just nice to have something to read when your in the couch or something.
