lol never thought about that but that would be a cool trick
my dad did that to us when i was young. now thinking about it, that was pretty dumb since all we had in the pond back then were kois
BTW, are there any arapaima books that can do further reading on? most of the info i get is from the net(dont get me wrong its a pretty good source of info). its just nice to have something to read when your in the couch or something.

NOT IN ENGLISH TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE:(

slightly off-topic, there is a great zoo (avilon zoo) here that has a lagoon where HUGE pimas reside -- visitors are allowed to rent small rowboats to tour around the lagoon. trouble is, the pimas are longer than the little rowboats...scares the heck out of the visitors!

"If you don't eat your vegetables, you're gonna go swimming with the Arapaima!"

I'd be like "HELL YEAH!!"(throws veggies on the floor)"Where's my harpoon!!!!!"

Also when they are being really defiant and you want to show them that you mean business, you can pick them up and dip their feet in the water until the Arapaimas come rushing over. "No daddy! I don't want to get eated by big fishy!"

Man, threatening little kids with giant fish...won't I make a great parent someday? :D
