I have never heard of this. As has been said i would drink the vodka before my fish even got a look in....lol. IMO i wouldnt put anything in my tank that didnt come from the ocean,,,,,,.Oceans have powerheads and heaters dont they????lol

They also have this giant sump somewhere underground, no one has ever seen it but me, people say i'm crazy.
 
i use vodka, it works well but you have to get it right.
my reef has never looked better.
you can also use sugar or vinegar,but imo vodka is best
 
I cant believe I have missed this thread!!
When a marine system has been infected with ich, and the fish have been removed to QT, and the display system is left "Fallow" for a period of time, that is the ideal time to dose with Vodka. It acts as a carbon substitute, just like dosing a nitrate reactor. The vodka will feed the bacteria, therefore continuing the natural cycle.

and it brings the phosphates down to zero
 
So what does Vodka and Blueberry shrimp taste like? Hmmm, does it make you wonder?
