I like to tinker with A1 and A2 body Volkswagens of all types, but I especially like to drive the Scirocco model. I bought a 1986 8 valve Scirocco and modified that motor a little with a cam shaft, throttle body, 4 -1 exhaust manifold and down tube that emptied into 2 1/4" exhaust, Billsteins with H&R springs...... Then I gathered every part I needed for a 16v conversion. I did the rear drums to disc brakes, upgraded the front brakes for stock 11" rotors, full polyurethane bushings and motor mounts, rear triangulated upper shock tower brace, front upper and lower strut braces, and a 2 1/2" exhaust into a BosalSpeed muffler...LOUD!
Then I lowered a 2.0 liter 16v with an after market exhaust cam with the factory exhaust cam sawed to fit on the intake cam. That motor is mated to a 2H tranny from a Rabbit GTI. Sadly I lost control around a slight curve in the road and spun into a tree, which the one picture that is not so clear portrays.(I had to cut the shell up and scrap it, but the pic is of the rear drivers quarter, I basically went backwards into the tree and evidently when impact occurred the door flew open and I went rolling onto the grass for for a few yards) the first group of pix represents my first Scirocco and my first ever car...
Then the last pix are of the new Scirocco I purchased while recently moving to Florida. This one also happens to be a 1986 8v that I have converted. I am trying to find out why I get power to my coil but I don't get spark, I plan on getting all that's necessary for a tune up. So maybe that'll help. The car is also in mock-up, I'd like to be able to flat black the whole car.... Go sleeper on everybody...
