I like to tinker with A1 and A2 body Volkswagens of all types, but I especially like to drive the Scirocco model. I bought a 1986 8 valve Scirocco and modified that motor a little with a cam shaft, throttle body, 4 -1 exhaust manifold and down tube that emptied into 2 1/4" exhaust, Billsteins with H&R springs...... Then I gathered every part I needed for a 16v conversion. I did the rear drums to disc brakes, upgraded the front brakes for stock 11" rotors, full polyurethane bushings and motor mounts, rear triangulated upper shock tower brace, front upper and lower strut braces, and a 2 1/2" exhaust into a BosalSpeed muffler...LOUD!
Then I lowered a 2.0 liter 16v with an after market exhaust cam with the factory exhaust cam sawed to fit on the intake cam. That motor is mated to a 2H tranny from a Rabbit GTI. Sadly I lost control around a slight curve in the road and spun into a tree, which the one picture that is not so clear portrays.(I had to cut the shell up and scrap it, but the pic is of the rear drivers quarter, I basically went backwards into the tree and evidently when impact occurred the door flew open and I went rolling onto the grass for for a few yards) the first group of pix represents my first Scirocco and my first ever car...

Then the last pix are of the new Scirocco I purchased while recently moving to Florida. This one also happens to be a 1986 8v that I have converted. I am trying to find out why I get power to my coil but I don't get spark, I plan on getting all that's necessary for a tune up. So maybe that'll help. The car is also in mock-up, I'd like to be able to flat black the whole car.... Go sleeper on everybody...:naughty:

sleepers of any type are nice... keep this thread updated

Here's some more documentary style pix, starting with...
My first Scirocco, same as above, but two months after I got
it in December of 1999 (second owner) and while on it's first
road trip to Florida....
Then they go on to when I wrecked it.
After my Scirocco the first two are of a 1984 GTI that I did the whole
conversion thing to, but couldn't get power to the fuel pump, so it
eventually sat around till I had to get my burgundy Scirocco back
on the road...
But while every thing sat around waiting for TLC and money I drove
around a blue 1985 Golf that I converted to GTI trim in and out,
plus I had to swap the motor and swap the auto tranny to a manual
one, which I bought a donor '86 GTI for $100 to get all the parts
I needed and then some!!! Then the tranny took a dump:swear:
I was able to get most of the 16v concersion from the Silver 1987 16v
Scirocco that's buried underneath all the sorage.

Nice Scirocco. I've always liked these.

my buddy had a scirroco back in the day,it was fully murdered-out before there was the term. my whole group of friends were all in to vw's.

we called the scirroco the rat-mobile, afterall they do have the side profile of a rat.

Thanx ya'll for the compliments and stories.

IMO. Incredibly fun to drive though.

Ryan, I believe the German term is "Fahr Vergnugen" (with an umlau over the 'u'...) "Fun While Driving"

My favorite memories are of me driving my VWs all around the back roads of Amish country, PA. I would pretend I was in one of those rally races. :cool-1:
