In the past, I used to use a large mug to ladle water out of the tank carefully and pour the water into a bucket. Not only is this process painfully slow, but I also typically need to mop up the floor afterward. hzz

Welcome aboard ?
Definitely time consuming and messy. I personally still use that method on a couple of small aquariums.

I’ve had mixed results with the Python depending on my water pressure and how far the sink is from the tank. Since I’ve moved around a lot over the past 10 years, about 5 times, I’ve had a lot of different setups and plumbing conditions. I started using sump pumps to drain my tanks or small fountain pumps on smaller tanks like my 55. Speeds up drainage times or did for me. The pythons come with lots of adapters for different pumps.

Before the fish room I would drain into a toilet. They are always lower than any tank stand and I never use the supplied plastic venturi. Be careful with newer faucets that use quick connect fittings. The back pressure from attaching a python can over power the o-rings and flood the room.

I stop using phyton cause i had a few fish that got stuck and sucked in by the phyton, i tried to cover the phyton with a net but when a debry blocks it the flow becomes weak. Thats why i decided to use a pump, plus its faster to drain when you have a bigger tank.

My G.Poly decided to take a ride one day to the bathtub ?

I hate that damn thing so much
