I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and i decided to look at the fish section, not to buy anything but just to see how it was. I was devastated! every tank was covered in algae, there were no lights and no fish. except one. it was labeled "cichlid" (thanks walmart for the clear name of the fish) so I was wondering, should i buy it? like he's literally the only fish there, no hiding spots, no light, probably no food! anyway, does anyone think i should buy it? or should i just leave him there?

If you buy it then they might order more fish. it might be better if you let the fish perish for the good of its species.
I'll be going over there today, ill post pictures of it from my phone. and yeah i would most definitely quarantine him, he's only about an inch or 1.5" at most.

They should get out of the fish business. Not to change the subject but i was in Pet Smart yesterday to buy Prime and they had all of these Oscars in several different tanks and every one of them had ripped fins, bolching eyes, and just looked really bad and it was actually very sad. I went up to the salesperson and told them they should be ashamed of themselves for letting those fish get that bad. I wanted to buy all of them just because I was so angry but have no tank space for any of them. They were starting to look deformed.
