nairitdewanjee9253 Sorry for the loss! From my experience ive seen they jump alot when theyre stressed/dont feel comfortable in a tank. They mostly do it when you add them newly to the tank. But to avoid this its better to put some hiding spaces. Ive noticed my big ones prefer flowerpots cut in half, Something which will give them a dark corner to hide in but spacious too to move around in, unlike PVC pipes. But its also true that they have different personalities, some are more skittish than others
Fish-Story Thank you. Comparing experiences is always so helpful! Yeah, this case was way out there. Extremely abnormal. This particular attu had a fitting, spacious, dark, almost unpopulated tank and a cave to hide if wanted. Our experience with the other one is the exact opposite in this regard.
2 week update on the attu: doing as well as could be, probably even a better eater than the prior two in that it seems to be less shy.
Different attu, different stock, same result in the 1800g: attu tail looks irresistible to predators (or jealous rivals?)
Whom to blame? W. attu tastes pretty good. And the tail is actually the most tasty part.

Nairitdewanjee9253 Had a similar problem with my attu too. My Chitala chitala bit the hell out of its tail. Ripped off the entire tail pretty much. But thankfully healed back to normal which was unexpected.
