Walleye in Aqaurium

go for it!!! they eat mainly crawdads and smallfish. so you are gonna need some live crayfish and goldfish. also they like it cold and dark. so a tank about(or pond) 2.5 feet to 3 feet in diameter and about 8 feet long would work, but you really would be better in a pond of about 6x6x3. also they hide out in rock piles all day long, so use some rock(slate or shale probably) slabs in a pile with lots of hiding places. i would do about 72 degrees F. also the fish in my avatar is a walleye, that was 23 inches long and 2.5 pounds, they are mean too. he ate 3 12-17 inch channel cats while in the fish basket, and survived 2days in the basket(normal fish only live 6 hours or 1 day) hope this helps, you could possibly keep him with channel cats and sturgeon if you have a huge pond

I used to have one 8 inch walleye, it turns out to be most boring fish I owned since it is inactive fish that only comes out in darkness as I can't witness the predatory behavior of my walleye.

would be really cool. I'd go for sauger too instead or maybe saugeye (sauger/walleye cross). room temp should be fine, which makes it nice.

I love walleye but I personally have never seen one in a tank before, I would like to though!

had a pretty good size one in a 135, kinda boring, very dossle cautios shy but sometimes curious. Seems like a smarter fish. pretty boring though.

i have had two walleye, three yellow perch and 3 blue gills for a year now. the walleye were 3 to 5 inches to start. they are now 9 to 14 inches. the big daddy is a horse nice and thick. i feed them 12 dozen minnows a week, and 5 days in theres nothing left. when you dump the minnows in its like the water starts boiling. when the lights turn off at 10 you can hear the gravel and plants moving and flying. my tank stays about 65 to 72 degrees year round "room temp". the fish are doing great and growing nicely. if you have any questions fee free to pm me.

you have pics of this setup? i'm intrigued lol.

Sauger or Yellow Perch would be a better tank fish. Walleye feed prodominatly at night making them very inactive during the day. Go to a Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops and look in the corners and overhangs, that where you will see the Walleyes spending the day.
