wallmart rant

im really glad our walmart dosnt sell fish but are local lfs sucks horribly too... prob just as bad as walmart:(

I also have had a bad/good experience with Walmart. When I bought my Oscars they said they would be fine in my 30 gallon tank, so I got all the stuff for them and bought one Red Oscar and One Lutino (which they had labeled Albino). Needless to say I did some research and found out each one needs at least 55 gallons a piece, so I went out and bought one 55 gallon for each oscar, they are happy and healthy still today, 8 months later. I also bought a whole bunch of community fish from Walmart and they are all still alive too. I guess I just take very good care of my fish, so it doesn't matter if I buy them from Walmart or my local pet store, they both are about equal in the amount of care they give their fish. I am from a very small city and dont have much choice as where to get my fish.:woot:

Some walmarts are better than others, but the one here sucks. For an example, every tank has at least one dead fish, and on their label it says pacu only grow to 10"

today this lady came in and said this guy sold her 2 of our big pacu, thery're 3 months old and about 3 inches tall. he told her a 30 gallon would be fine for 2 of them. so needless to say i had to tell her she was told wrong and had to tell her what to buy.

hmm talking about the wlazmartz... i was at petcocaine today and the guy that was in the fish dep... well i gess to tell the story right, i met some guy there, and we where chatting about fish. so back to the story, the guy that was nettin fish (which i dont think he was qualifide to do) over heard us talking about the martwalz and how they sometimes get in rare fish and do not relize it. so the guy that was working at nettin the fish, said "yah, you shouldent buy fish from walmart, because they dont take care of their fish. They dont feed them everyday, and dont clean the water. you have to go their on the day they get in their shipment" dunno, just thought i would share... no one probly cares, and i am again left just sitting here ramblin to myself...

Walmart's down wit the b++++hs and h+s as they would say in Malabus Most Wanted

well i think i am going to go start a thread about how meany people that keep fish... fish

i work at a petsmart and honestly, i think our department is run well. ive had bad experiences at all sorts of pet stores including other p-marts, wal-marts, meijer, petco, psp, etc but i think it all depends on the store. dont write everyone off just because the tags are wrong and such.

we actually got new tags for all our fish recently and i guess there were massive complaints from the aquatics specialists in every store about misinformation on the tag. basically the petsmart max size usually refers to how big the fish will get in a captivity by the normal fish keeper, not how big it can truly get in a 1000 gallon tank.

and yes, they changed the names on several fish thinking that if the customer couldnt pronounce the name of the fish, they wouldnt ask to buy it. and theyre right. i sell more featherfin catfish and dinosaur eels than synodontis cats and senegal bichirs. so yeah i agree that a lot of big chain stores suck but a lot are also really good depending on who runs the department.

if you dont want to learn you wont last long in my store, bottom line. i make sure you get moved to another department or train them to death because i hate when customers are misinformed. so give the big guys some credit...sometimes.

also i got a really sweet spotted raphael catfish from walmart once and it lived 12years so i guess theyre not all bad eh? :x

Right on! Not to mention get your oil changed, eat a Big Mac and a pick up a Boz Skaggs greatest hits CD? IS THERE ANYTHING THE WAL*MART CANNOT DO????? Nothing is more American. NOTHING~!

they cant take care of fish:thumbsup:

Petsmart is about the only decent fish store i have around here, i've had no problems

yea i love clothes from walmart....basically that whole store sucks except for the music section and food section....and as if the fish werent bad enough as they are theyre way overpriced as well

Way over priced? get this i went out to the walzmartz that has fish todday, and one of my pacus didnt make the night because of my stupidity (diffrent story) so today i found 3 pet stores that had pacus petco was 6 bucks and change, some no name discount pet store that i have had alot of luck with their fish, was 2.99 and walmart was almost 7 bucks.
