Wanna catch BIG CATS in the river!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Okay so I'm still out here on the water
Looks like the only thing I'm gonna catch is a good hangover tomorrow haha
But no bites tried quite a few variations of blue gills no luck
However, there are a ton of splashes\jumps out there that sound BIG I know sounds are deceiving but what could be jumping out there???

not familiar with that river but could be striped bass or carp, big shad, just depends on what all is in there

The only frustrating thing about flatheads is that if you are going for big ones you might have to catch small ones first because even small flatheads can eat a big bluegill. When I use a rope lure I have to sight fish them and practically hit them on the head to bite it lol. If you are shorefishing you may have to try a few areas till you find one that produces. If you are on a boat, a good place to fish at night is maybe an edge before a dropoff or hole.

How deep were you fishing them? What kind of rigging were you using?

On the bottom. A single bluegill scaled and cut (they were still alive) and with a 5 oz sinker. It only seemed like one of our poles MIGHT have got a hit.
We fished where a good size creek turns into the river behind some barges, and one line straight off the bank. No luck
