Wanna make dry land for snapper, how to go about?

I do agree with the suggestion to do something more basic at first. Obviously every animal is different, but I'm not sure a snapper will be inclined to climb ramps even if he's got the opportunity. Some of the dedicated basking types like sliders, paints, and maps won't even go that far. Maybe start with a table type deal that he can climb up on if he wants; the table as opposed to just basking rocks gives him the swimming space under the table.

In wider tanks I used to use milk crates. Tipped on their sides, or upside down with a side broken/cut out. I'd keep the water level a bit above the crate, and then put a few flat rocks up there. Then they could easily swim onto the crate, rest there while still in the water if they want, or go up on the rocks and dry out completely if they want.

Incidentally none of my common snappers ever basked even if they had a dry basking spot, but they did like to rest on driftwood etc half in/half out of the water.

In the 8 years of having my snapper I've seen him bask once. Another thing to consider is if he wants to move something he probably will, that's why I just stick with big rocks or driftwood for basking areas

Ya I had rocks in the tank, he moved them to where they all laid flat on the sand:screwy: SO I took them out
