i think i can only get 2
i might have to sell my other 40
but i sold alot off my other fish
so in my tank that i might keep i now have
1 green terror
1 african butterfly
1 hujeta

id be cautious about the terror. small characins usually don't like cichlids.

why sell the 40? that would be a perfect place to put ur charax in. and since u got a ton of room you could add more small characins to suit your taste. aside from Exodons that is.

How big do the charax get and do they shoal. Also I seen they look like miny payara's

yea they get around 6. and you only want 2 (more would be better). the hujeta would do nothing to your charax. but its too big for a 40 anyway and like aces it moves too fast to be safe in a 40 without killing itself/bending its beak.

you can put in an african butterfly fish at the top.
add other tetras in the middle if your only getting 2 charax.
or hell you don't need to. the 2 charax would have alot of space and look interesting all by themself.

beside if you plan on using live foods it does get dull when you have 5 predators in the same tank and you want a certain one to go after the prey but fish are like bottomless pits and will eat until the explode so it does get annoying trying to distract the other 4 while you wanna watch 1 certain fish get the meal.

that way it will leave equal oppertunity for your 2 predators to catch the meal. in my 125 im always mad at my jardini that always snatched every single fish/cricket/shrimp when im trying to feed the other fish and i just want it gone. LOL

I got four of these in my 63g with discus and a hujeta, no problems with the discus but I suspect that they are the ones that have eaten on the hujetas tail, (check my thread in the photo lounge about it).
Ive read that charax gibbosus grows to around 15cm, my guys are around 10, and since they are with discus Im powerfeeding them with beefheart, so it should be interresting to see how big they can get with that diet and lots of wcs.
