Wanting a true Piscivore

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like belonesox, They should be able to take out your small convicts that get away from the vacuum. They are definitely piscivorous, and if they have cover they should have no trouble staying out of everyone else's way. They are live bearers but most people I know never get fry because the female turns around and eats them before they can get away.

All, is there a fish I can buy that is a true piscivor that will not get over 4 inches +/- an inch is fine also it needs to get along with my current cichlids.
1. Jack
1. Salvini
2. Convicts, (breeding pair)
The reason in want it is for clean up of baby convicts. I have a EHEIM vacuum filter I use to clean up the majority of the babies but inevitably a few always get away. They quickly grow to the point that the vacuum is not strong enough to pick them up as they swim easily against the vacuum current.
I end up having to chase them down with a hand her. This is not acceptable having a planted tank as it damages plants. Thanks all
Amazon or African leaf fish

Apollo shark, a little longer than 4" but very slender. Or batrochoglanis raninus cats will sort them, never get over 5"

Surprised the salvini arnt picking them off tbh...

There are Salvini and Convicts in that tank. You really think a leaf fish can survive?

+1

Not to mention the it needs a sub 7 ph and soft water.

Belonesox is a good option. I am also surprised the salvini isn't picking off fry. But nothing is going to be successful against a very defensive con pair.

If the tank is planted with a good scape I don't think there's many predators that will catch all the convicts, there cunning little sods.
