I've had papers I've written a last year in my advanced composition class that came up suspiciously plagiarized, but I had the proper sites and sources to credit my own work and the instructor understood the type of research I had to work with. The damn paper was 26 pages long (ALL CONTENT), not counting the 6 pages of sources and cover page. I seriously doubted my ability to write that much content. I would hate for someone to take my own work and receive credit for it. So it's a good thing that plagiarism does stick with them through out their academic career. Shame on plagiarizers.

:WHOA: Yea I had the same problem as you. My teacher thought I was plagiarizing, but I cited all my resources I used so I got a good grade on it :)

I always thought as plagiarism to be one of the highest forms of flattery.
There is a fine line between working smart and cheating though.

I have used turnitin.com in high school. It was a huge pain but oh well. I copied and pasted a lot of stuff and I guess got by the filters. I HATED writing essays. It was hell. lol. But I do see the point, if I spent hours writing and essay, I would be pissed if someone else turned it in and got credit!

I'm in highschool and have to use turnitin too. I've used it since I was a freshman so I'm not really bothered by it since I've never experienced not having to use it. Just have to paraphrase all your information for a research paper... how I despise research papers. Doesn't help english is my worst subject too. Worst as in a low A, I have high standards for my grades. :(

So, the good news is that there is no permanent record. The better news is that there isn't any reason to cheat. Fail on your own or BS your way through it like everyone else. In the end, that paper you're writing is pretty meaningless.

Warning? Is this some new concept?

If someone blatantly copies something they deserve the consequences. Most papers in high school are pointless and will be meaningless after you hand it in, probably safe to say its the same with undergrad too. Be smart about it...if you copy and paste make it sound like your own.

Who here used turnitin.com? :)

I have a paper due on there in two weeks. :(

CHEATERS ALWAYS WIN! lmao yeah my profess said dont do it and im in EMT-B class its Super hard paramedic school next (i wont have a life).

If ALL aspects of life required personal integrity, the world would be a much better place.

I was enrolled in the Honors college in UF and it is insane how many of the students cheat there. Maintaining a 4.0 GPA is not easy to do without cheating which is why I did not stay in that program for long...I am okay with the normal university classes...
