I've been asking this around everywere, but what do you guys think I should put in my 35?
I'm out of ideas. I'm thinking Gulper cat but I want something agressive/predatory yet active... and maybe not so exspensive...

:woot

Start growing a baby wolf fish!!! :headbang2

Wich species though?
Only one I really know about is the red, and I hear they can sometimes be super lazy, yet others constantly moving.

somehow the box got wet, which made the heatpacks stop working. Li shipped me the fish ap to ap. i just have the worst luck sometimes.
I'm 50/50 for shipping I tried having some wolfish shipped they lived two days each and I had my wallago attu shipped and he 10" so fairly large to have shipped and he turned out fine and is now 26". There are a lot of variables when it comes to shipping the crappy thing that even if the fish store offers live arrival guarentee you still have to pay for shipping again.

Lots to comment on here.

I've shipped and received fish several times and never had an issue. It can be tough to keep the heat pack dry, it needs to be open to O2 to work properly, but when wet can stop working. Would be nice if you could just toss it in a Ziploc. I tend to wrap it lightly in newspaper and tape to the top of the box.

As for the cycling bit, I don't know what you mean about the blue pads on the AC110 or is that on the Penguin? I think the AC110 is what used to be the AC500, right? I've not changed filter pads in my AC500's in 5 years or so, and the sponges are going strong. I just rinse every other week. Replacing media is just reccomended by the manufacturer so they make more money. Straight up. I was a terrible salesman at the LFS I used to work at as I told the truth. Just rinse (in tank water) and re-use.

You can just swap pads. There will be enough beneficial bacteria coating the rest of the surface area in the 55 to quickly colonize different media. You'd want to swap it (or rinse the gunk) right before adding fish though, as the bacteria will quickly die off in the 35 without a source of ammonia (fish waste).

As to the order, I emailed N-E Cichlids and got this as the current stock of cichlids. Most fish on the site are from their suppliers and not on hand.

CARPINTUS GREEN 4" $12.99
CONVICT WHITE REG. $3.99
DOVI 4-5" LGE $29.99
G. JURAPARI- LGE $29.99
GALAXY BLUE DEMPSEY 1.5" $34.99
JACK DEMPSEY XLGE $11.99
BLACK BAR RED MIDAS 5-6" $24.99
MIDAS CICH. 5" $24.99
SEVERUM GREEN REG $3.99
VIEJA BIFASCIATUS 6-7" $24.99
VIEJA HARTWEGI 7" $24.99

As for the peas bit, they'll help with digestion but it's not a digestive issue. Some fish may appear to have a swim bladder issue as they'll swim funny, but in reality it's an intestinal tract problem. That's where the peas help. If the fish is eating and defecating normally the peas won't fix it's swimming issue (but won't hurt either).

For the 35 gallon stocking, I'd reccomend a smaller pair of CA cichlids. Myrnae, Honduran red points, or panamensis come to mind. Active, great color, interesting breeding behavior. Though I am a bit of a cichlid nut. And I think A Place For Pets has all three of those in right now, for about $6.99 each.

I have 6 Different suppliers that I get my fish from, Whereas most companies only deal with 2 or 3. I chose to use so many so I can provide my customers with quality fish. Availability changes everyday as do the prices depending on where the fish comes from. I house more of the hard to find species here, so I do not have to track them down for a customer. All but 2 of my suppliers have minimum orders. If a customer wants a fish from them and I am not doing an order at the time, then the customer will have to meet the minimum.

If you want Central/South American cichlids, I have a supplier who has quite a few large ones. The Minimum order is $200 with that supplier. Wouldn't it be easier for you to tell me what you are looking for rather than complaining about the limited stock I have.

Hey modest thanks for the updated list, i'll have to pm them because they had RTCxTSN's and some others that we were interested in ordering and the aren't on your list. So i guess i'll check and see if the fish i want are even getable right now.

Modest_Man, Been thinking about stocking it with some cichlids, it used to have a pair of cons in it. I had a chance to buy some leucistic honduran redpoints but I never bought them.

For some reason, I was actually thinking of getting some goldfish... Not exactly monster but when I first got the tank I had two 8'' Ryukin and one 5'' Shubunkin it was a pretty peacefull tank to watch as they swam back and forth and all the different colors were really nice. I've also been looking at blood parrots found a really nice site that has super red BP's that arent dyed or fed color enhanced food yet stay super red.
Not sure what to do though, Monster single speciman tank, or some nice slow moving fish. The tanks in my room so it would be nice to have alot of color and movement.

I was thinking of doing a planted set-up with a pair of dwarf pike, and some dwarf cichlids... But again, not sure what direction to take this tank.

My 55 is probably going to end up with africans again. :nilly:

Anyone else game for the group order???? Ships out next wednesday.. we have 3 people already but cheaper shipping is always better..

uhh you guys all West of the mountains??? I'd be interested , still trying for one particular fish, is this any species or especially cichlids?

How about the Passes, all mail delivery here is non existant, the snow is as high as the power lines on the passes, Snoqualmie is closed due to "unpresidented Historical Avalanche Danger", cars have been buried, the Avalance poles are even covered!
Steven's just opened but their no gas along the way and no where to put the snow, and the bush plane to seatac is grounded. One inch an hour nonstop since Monday or more, 7 new ft., wow, I'm used to this, but WOW.

Everyone please be careful.:WHOA::WHOA::WHOA:

Fishy Freeze to Death warning depending on this storm, it's going to go all weekend too-they are predicting excessive mail delays, included express mailing, 20 semi's a day have been backing up with mail, so I just don't want anyone to get a fishcicle. It unfortunately happened to me at a State Patrol roadblock, It was too cold, my poor Pleco, even in the truck water bottles froze solid.
