they do too spaze out, and hit the air tryin to throw the hook. the same nerves for pain are the ones used to sense objects (feeling stuff). if a fish couldnt feel pain it couldnt feel you touching it or know if it ran into the glass or not. (i think i had a irridecent shark that couldnt feel pain though:grinno:)

and fish can cry...believe it or not....its been tested...and if you want to do ur own test...get a catfish (channel cat prefered) dry it off good, let it sit for about 10 mins outta water (still alive) to let most of the moiture evaporate. then go about cleaning it.(chop its head off) and watch the eyes...they water and will start streaming with tears...after i tried that...i clean all of my fish in the sink or drink and make sure their plenty wet ;) that way i just forget and go about it.
noooooo dont do it!!!

I completely dont agree with that.
But on the arguement of fish feeling pain, I cant see it possable that they do..... reason:
How many of us fish keepers have had fish suffer from bad burns caused by the tank heaters?
So if they fell pain would the fish not think, f**k me thats hurting Im swiming away and sleeping somewhere else??? No they just stay there and next morning you have a fish with a bad burn acting no different to normal.
Now you try burning a patch of skin off right down as bad as fish do, I can guarantee you will need hospital treatment....

I further agree that this fish is dead and it is just contracting. I go bass fishing up here in Canada and have seen, and gutted many fish. Not to elaborate - (I'm no doctor) but burning oil probably killed the fish.
I do question how some people say that this is 'wrong'.

Not saying you should do it, not saying you should even like it.

I do believe 'Judge not less you be judged'.

You have your 'opinion'. I will fight for your right to defend your opinion.
But to take a very different culture / group of people and to correct them on what is right and wrong and pass judgment on it as absolute. I think that is naive, inconsiderate and uneducated.

There are more groups of people and more ways of thinking then your own. Other groups of people have other sets of morals and ethics and I think to you have to respect them in their choices.

Don't follow what they do, lead through example not through imposing your ways of thinking on someone else. Respect their choices unless you wish yours not to be respected.

I do not wish to make this a cultural war or some huge flame thread and those of you thinking about flaming me consider this;
I respect your opinion the above all my opinion.
That is the entire point, have respect.

If you consider this point hypocritical perhaps it is. I'm sharing my opinion on how people need to show respect for saying someone is doing something wrong. And I myself am saying a person is doing something wrong.
However, I respect you for your choices, and if you feel it vital to point out other cultures incorrect actions I hope that your slate is clean and are from a culture who has done nothing that could be seen wrong in someone else's wrong.

Last point, if you are offended by me saying that passing judgment on some is "naive, inconsiderate and uneducated." as insulting. Please share why you think it is okay to tell other cultures what is right, and what is wrong.

i agree if the fish didn't die from having it's brains boiled in hot oil then it at least died of shock. i chalk the gasping up to posthumous twitches
