Watch Him Grow: My male Green Terror named Kai

Thanks folks, it has a long way to go and I will do my best to keep on track with the monthly updates. I am pretty happy with the photo quality of those shots compared to that of my original post but I will feel like I can do better. I just don't know much about photography yet.
Anyhow, the skinny leaf plant is Java fern but the needle leave variety. I find they grow faster then the standard Java fern and the leaves look healthier than std Java fern for me.
The sand is caribsea moonlight sand. Very fine white sand. I don't have a thick layer as this stuff can become compacted easily.

A few days early but here is the monthly update. You will notice there are no pictures or video of Devi my female green terror this month.
Long story short is with the spawning going on she became very mean and would cause a fair bit of damage to my male. Stressing me out on top of it. So I have decided to keep only one fish to avoid aggression and unwanted breeding.
So without further delay here is Kai. I am currently trying to edit a bit of video but I will post it soon.

He is looking amazing good job. Your pictures are nice n clear and thanks for the video your tank setup is real nice. I love the aquascape, I started with a pair of green terrors in 2008-09 and have been one of my favorite cichlids for sure
Thank you very much. This is the first time since being in the hobby that I have kept a larger cichlid. Up until now I have always done community tanks with your more common smaller fish.
This time around I find myself enjoy my tank alot more. The personality that Kai has really shows. He is very entertaining.

Yeah when I had my female they spawned twice. Both times they had great hatch rates but both times the female would let the male help parent them.
Once the fry starts free swimming in the tank the female could not protect them from the male and he would eat the babies.
The fighting between them is part of the reason for getting rid of the female
