watchamacallit..... tree roots (stump)...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i had the same thing happen to a piece of drift wood i put in my tank i happened in certian areas(not where i cut) they were only dime size my feather finn catfish would always be stuck to that piece of wood and i think he was eating it, he's still kicking. not sure if it's harmful, when i did see it i'd scrape it off...

I have the same thing happen to 2 pieces of driftwood in 2 different tanks. No fish were ever harmed because of it and some fish like my flagtail Brochi actually ate it. It does no harm to your fish.

The stump does look kind of fresh to be using in a tank but the white stuff is always harmless when I see it.

It is a fungus that is growing due to the wood still has sap in it. if you pull the chunk out and let it dry and die you can plop it back in and it wont do it anymore. but you will have to kill the sap/wood in order for it to stop. :)

sounds good..... looks like i got different ways to do this thingy.... and if ever someone has the same problem we can always bump this thread ttt... for everyones info.... keep it coming if theres anything else we can add to this.... im pretty sure it will be helpful, not only to me:), but others also....;)

thanx MFK'rs... its really APPRECIATED!!!!:D
