Water Change Question - Tap Water w/ Dechlorinator

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
depending on the rays..... you are fine...unless you get tigers and flower rays, they should be fine with the big ones... just dont do a big one and clean ur filter on the same day ;)

Planning on motoros maybe leos down the road.

Only issue I am having is the area I can put the tank I can only fit a 3' wide tank. Think this will be alright for them? Length will be 6-8 feet in length. How many rays do you think would comfortably live in this sort of sized tank?

I do 50% water changes with my tigers and flowers and there is no problem at all, just make sure there acclimated first.
I add the prime to the tank first then fill striaght out of the tap. No problems with any rays.

place python in tank.... fill with water... then add prime close the tops and walk away...

:iagree:, and tigers are fine with big wc. I do 50% every 3 days and no sign of stress.

My WC regime on a 300 Gallon

- Draw out 60%.
- With a wavemaker still ON in the tank, dose PRIME according to tank volume (300 Gallon)
- Pump in tap water directly but at a slow flow

Purpose of the wavemaker is to make sure PRIME is mixed up well in the water while tap water is being intro in too.

Been doing this for years without problems.

I add in the water conditioner after the water is in but my filters are off and I keep the filters off for 15 minutes after I add my decholorinator (TopFin). TopFin conditioner says to wait 15 minutes before adding bacteria starter, so I inferred that it wasn't great for my established filter.

Thanks for all the opinions. Something to scratch off the equipment need list then - no large container for water mixing.
