Water change with no conditioner!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If it is fine now, keep an eye on it, just get some declorination stuff and slime coat nuv aqua stuff, thats what I use. but i've done this before with no issues. Put some salt in the tank, cross your finger, tap dance in a counter clockwise circle while rappin "Walk it out" and you'll be alright.

Hope everything goes ok. A good lesson learned.

Good for you, but some of us actually have chlorine and/or chloramines in our water.

We use straight tap water at the store for top offs, but not for significant water changes.

I never use chlorine remover anymore... ever. Maybe if I had to do an emergancy setup. I have hard alkaline city water and I stopped using it years ago.

Chorine breaks away from the water easily to begin with, if you want to expediate this process, agitate the water. I have used treated and untreated water in the past and have not noticed a difference.

I am in the middle of a city that has high ph and soft water. I have no idea the amount of chlorine and ammonia but I do 40 percent changes every two weeks without conditioner in both my 55 and 75 African tanks.

Today they acted a little groggy after the change. I think mostly from adding chemicals. I will probably just do a 20-25 percent change next time.
