People saying more is better are just stupid, unless you've got free water and electricity and too much spare time.
They are entitled to their own opinions and experiences. In the end, it is up to the OP what he thinks is best for his fish. There is no reason to call out others as "stupid", etc whatever negative comments you can think of. This is why we have a forum so we can share our own thoughts.;)

Lol,you are lucky that arowana arent as sensitive like my discus. Which require 25% twice a week (more when they are juvenile).
I have learned that slight overdue of WC could cost your fishes lol :/

hehe he must be talking about me... i probably change about 75% a week. it just all depends on how healthy you want your fish in my opinion. i change 50% on my 120 and 75 weekly. but i also gravel vac about 2 gallons out eveytime i feed which is usually 2 times a day.

You mentioned 150 gal tank, one arowana, but you didn't mention what kind of filter you run that tank, and how often you feed your fish. However, you don't need to be a mad science to test those water with those tiny test tube, and dropping chemical to determine when to do water change. 30%-40% weekly will do fine :) Don't every do 50% or more w/c if you have arowana :grinno:

Sorry, what I was getting at is that if you haven't got a build up of waste and your nitrates are below 20ppm then doing larger water changes won't achieve anything, and all you're doing is throwing good water down the drain and wasting electricity heating up the new stuff. I should have worded it better to say the idea that doing more is always better is stupid.

Man dude where do you get all the water!? Do you own your own Crystal Springs truck or do you have a private water fall in your backyard!? LOL

thats not that much, my water changes add up to roughly 500 gallons per week. ;) just measure your nitrates, keep them under 20 ppm and you will be golden.

Actually this is not completely correct. Beside nitrate, ammonia, and all those chemical created by waste, fish also release hormone in the water, so frequently water change will promote fish growth.
