Kk i normmaly do water changes and i hook up a filter to the tap water ( the filter was desighned for fish care takes out all the bad ****) well that broke and i need to do a water change i have a home filter we put on the tap when we drink from it.. well this work? and is there anything i should add to the water before i put some in my tank?

you can add something to dechlorize (is that a good word??) the water, like Easylife. But you can also add that immediately after changing the water.

Can i use stress zyme it says it makes tap water safe to put into the tank by removing chlorine.

Stress Zyme is a bacterial additive..

Try NovAqua, its a good water conditioner.

Try doing larger water changes ;)

Ill try to do them twice a week. when i go to petsmart i got a list of things to get

1.) carbon filter cartridges or w/e x3
2.) carbon stocking/carbon
3.)Bio balls
4.) pot scrubbers or nylon scrubbie pads from the dollar store
5.) novaqua and if they dont have that ill find something.

As far as the tap filter, you would have to check and see if it removes chlorine / chloramine. Plus I think They are a little slow to fill a large quantity such as a w/c.

Stress coat removes the chlorine , Stres zyme is a biological additive like Miles said.

Do you have chlorine or chloramine in your water? Whatever, make sure the chemical you buy removes them.

Whats the bioballs for? if you got pot scrubbers.

Check pond supply area at Home Depot or else where for Beckett brand chlorine & chloramine remover, a 16oz bottle does almost 2000 gallons and was only $6. You use a capful to 20 gallons of water.

Hope I caught you in time,

Dr Joe
