Well, let's see...There is the big pond with the pink boulder waterfall, the medium pond with the other waterfall, the pond by the fence with another waterfall, the pond by the deck - no waterfall, the pond in the train bed with a short waterfall, the pond at the shop with a waterfall, the new turtle pond that is 2 ponds - so I guess another waterfall...oh - the pond in the front yard....ummmm - I know I am forgetting some. Then there are the free standing fountains.......

Wow, the pond's you showed so far are all amazing. I would like to try and duplicate the long waterfall you showed when I set up mine. I just need to find a lot of flat rock's. No luck so far but hopefully I find some. Your dog in the winter pict. looks just like mine.:) Is he trying to dig up one of your ponds for you?:D

I would def. pay really close attention to it. The last thing you want it the winter is ice to collect and divert water out of the pond frying up the pump.
i was not worried about water diverting from the pond as much as seeing the layer of ice growing higher and higher every day. i was afraid of a glasier affect, taring those large boulders away from the falls. this came from the water splashing. as you said in your other post...

don't let it splash!!!

By diverting I meant damning. Ice damns form on the rocks and in streams very easy. That ice you see growing, has the potential to keep growing to a point where they constrict or stop water flow so much that it never returns to the pond. Which them leads to pump probs. I only experience that whenthe temps. get below 0 degree for a week or so. This past winter i did nothing to the pond all winter. In 2007, we had a week or so of brutal temps., where I had to actually pour boiling water on some of the ice formations. I didn't lose any water, but the threat was to big for me not to do anything at all. It is kind of dicey w/ your falls. Many elevation changes and diff. levels that I see potentally causing problems. I would run your pump as long as possible, but soon as temps. get really cold, turn off the pump and place it in a bucket of water. You could use it in the skimmer w/ a piece of PVC returning it back into the pond. Basically the same as a cow trough heater. Keeps a hole in the ice.....
