i am really enticed by the thought of a part water, part land tank
i was thinking just fill a 29 halfway with water, then build up a sandbank on one side,so they can get out of the water and add some aquatic and terrestrial plants
what type of filtration should i use?
what type of plants?
what type of amphibs/fish or crabs or whatever u guys think would be kool in there?

sand that deep isnt a good idea as it will hold gases in and create a bad habitat for anything in the water

water/land 29 would be kinda pointless
just a huge waste of space the way im seeing it
a 20 long would be good

what does that mean?
ok could i use gravel instead?

You could do many different types of frogs. Salamanders would be an interesting idea. They are slow moving and aren't the best for entertainment. You may be able to do maybe one stinkpot turtle. But most other turtles grow too big for a 29 gallon. Don't even attempt to add one unless you have plans for the near future for a bigger tank.
