Well for newts you will want a less powerful filter like a sponge filter. Since they are slow moving a powerful filter could suck up your newt.
lol im sorry i just hve to laugh at the thought of a newt getting sucked up in a filter
but seriously ya i could do a little sponge on one side
what about a pacman frog?

I have a 20 long with corkwood on one side as a sort of "turtle dock" (that's the land side lol) and the rest filled with water. Soon I'm gonna put aquatic plants in there and maybe a bichir and a RTC.

a rtc in a 20 gallon long? i think u wud have to upgrade pretty quickly

pacman will eat anything. which means only one pacman nothing else like no newts or other frogs, etc.

pacmans will also sometimes if not most of the time think of fingers as food lol

but there are some kick butt looking pacs out there:D

ps. i think but someone can correct me if i'm wronge, dont pacs need humidity........... so you would need a mister type of thing (i'm not really a reptile person:D)

The water would have to be really low for a pacman.
Like an inch maybe
could i keep a pacman in gravel?

ya so i think im leaning back towards newts....
any ideas on species?
