does anyone have a link on the 501 canister?Chelydra Serpentina;2682421; said:fluval make really good reptile filters. they are one piece filters that your pet wont be able to crawl into, or take the stuffing out of. they perform weak biological filtration, but in a tank w/ low water and frequent changes, this will not be much of a problem. however, it should be considered that they do need to be submerged completely to work, and the current they give off is quite strong. the 94gph will come out that spout like a water jet....could turn 5 gallons of water into a whirl pool. some kind of diffuser would solve this problem, and i'm sure you could come up w/ something on your own, or...if you dont mind the sound of running water...point it strait up. i did this in a...basically a glass tray...that housed a beta. the current may still have been a bit much....that is still turning over the water in your tank about 18 times an hour. (assuming you use a 20 gal that has half the tank half full of water....5gal) in short, i like fluval, but you need to match the application to the filter. i would recamend something like the zoomed 501 canister filter...about $50 about 50gph and comes w/ a spraybar that will help diffuse the outlet of water, or will work like a shower for amphibians. also, those things really suck up waste and have a decent biological filtration
