Anyone here use submersible pump for fast water change. My water pressure so weak it takes 30 mins to get 30 gals water out of the tank (with python). At the same time waste a lot of water to keep the siphon going .
Any good suggestion pump or ways to do w/c faster and not waste water?

If you're using a canister, and it has a quick disconnect on the output, get another connector of the same type, and make up a hose with it. When you need to drain water, shut your filter off, connect your drain hose, and turn the filter back on.

How about you disconnect the python from the sink and just run that hose out a door or window.
Stop wasting water and feed your lawn/plants at the same time.
Use the python sink hook up to add your water only.

I use a pond pump on my 75 and it's a very effective means of quickly removing water. I can actually watch the level plummet, as opposed the usual siphon where I have to go look at the output of the drain to confirm that water is even going anywhere. I use a RIO 900 or something like that. It's missing an internal flipper (makes it rattle, off balance) so I mostly plug it in to prime the flow, then unplug it. So I guess it's really just the giant-diameter hose doing the job after that. Maybe skip the pump and try a giant hose. :)

does that make it go faster or suck harder?

Just go buy one of the cheapie pumps that you can find at the hardware store. I wouldn't spend a whole lot of cash on a put that is used strictly for water changes.

The purpose of the python is to not run the water from the faucet all the time. you just use the water pressure to start the siphon. Either way, it is not a very effective way to drain water as gravity plays an important role in the effectiveness of a siphon.

What cheapie pump will you recommend from hardware store?
Thank in advance
