hey all just a bit curious if you have this issue of tank water getting dirty quick...i have a 110 tall setup in my room..filter is a fx5 so i am sure i have plenty of filtration. as for stock i have an albino oscar 8 inch..8 inch royal pleco, 8 inch common pleco, 5 inch green phantom pleco, 3 inch bristlenose pleco, and a feeder goldfish oscar didnt want for lunch that is now about 6-7 inches (there buds now). anyways for my setup its pretty basic. i have black sand with some nice driftwood in it. i do weekly water changes 25-50% depending on how lazy i am. as for feeding i give the goldfish some flakes and the oscar about 10 pellets a day. i started feeding every other day now. the driftwood has been soaked long long before entering this tank so i know the leeching is done with. anyways im not really sure why this water gets all dirty looking like 2-3 days after a water change...maybe it will go away over time idk? too many fish? thanks!!

That's because you have plecos and a goldfish. Those are the biggest poop machines on the plannet of fish. Didn't you know that? Plus Oscars are poop machines but compared to one pleco the Oscar is a little girl of poops. And you have many.

Be sure to clean your filters out aswell as maybe getting rid of a couple pleco? Get some catfish maybe? Much cleaner and there's tons of options!

What do you mean when you say your tank is dirty,lots of poop on the bottom,is the water not clear?...I would think that filter could handle that load.

1 fx5 is not going to be enough to keep your water clean with all those fishes that poop a lot. I would suggest adding 2 AC 110.

They don't eat driftwood at a rate that is even noticeable. So that isn't what is making the water dirty. What is making the water dirty is that he has three or four fish that are notoriously messy and while the FX5 is enough, the flow may not be set up well enough to move all the poop or he just plain needs more filtration.

Best thing i ever did was get rid of my plecos. The royal i had was the biggest **** machine of them all.
