water turnover in a ray tank

Looking into putting together my 250 or 300 system. How much realistic water turnover per hour are you folks trying to achieve? One site I read states the entire tank volume turned over 8 times per hour which at 300 would come to 2400 gallon an hour running through the filter. Really?

It's all going to depend on your stock, size of rays, how many....

Many people here are around 15-20X turnover.

Agreed^^^ rays love big turnover numbers.

my 220 has a dual wet dry sump with a little giant md4sxc , its around 750 gph, my motoro and hysterix rays are eating and growing fine. anda tetra luft pump . if you have tank raised rays, do they know the differance?

other than the aforementioned pump, what are you using to achieve such numbers?

I try and achieve a turn over rate of 12-15x my volume so......7200-9000 for me. Like in my PM to you earlier go big or go home with rays

Most rays will play in a strong current and it's not unusual to see them swimming right against the filter output. Don't be afraid to go too strong with them.
