My python doesn't fit my kitchen faucet...somewhere in the agenda is a trip to Lowe's/HD to buy an attachment for my faucet that will fit the python. Now I empty with the python. Pre-python I used to just suck-syphon with a piece of hose and fill with a 20g rubbermaid bin (less trips).

A python is a MUST for anyone with tanks larger then 29gallons.

Santoury, why are they only lasting a month for you? Ive had mine for almost two years...use it every 5-7 days and it still looks brand new. Oh and trust me Im very harsh my equipment.

What I do for my 125 since it is barebottom....

Hook up python to sink (if yours doesnt fit bring the ring from your sink and the brass piece from the python to HD/Lowes and thell hook you up)

Turn cold water full blast.
Siphon out any visible debris.
Then turn on hot and cold full blast for a powerful suction.
Let run that way for a couple minutes then turn off water.
Python will continue sucking but a lower rate.
Stick the tube in my tank to the desired level where once the water gets to that point the suction will stop.
Close tank lid to hold tube in that position.
Sit back drink a beer watch T.V. till its done.

Once done use hot and cold water to match tank temp.
Flip nozzle up.
Add Prime.
Sit back finish beer untill filled.

Same Thing Here....

Easiest Way To Do It :D

I hook up my python to the faucet and syphon all the debris from the gravel. Once I have cleaned the gravel and changed the water usually 50%, I get two 5 gallon buckets and I start to fill the bucket. I add stress coat before the bucket completely fills and stir the water. Then I pick up the bucket and pour it into the tank (keep the buckets near the tank so you don't have walk around house spilling water everywhere). While your pouring your first bucket the python should be sitting in the second bucket filling it. I have a 125 gal and it takes me approx. 30 mins to change and fill the water.

Add your salt and Stress Coat to the bucket before you fill, and it will all be mixed when you are done filling....
Umm... you do add aquarium salt, right?

if you do sufficient water changes you don't need to change as much everytime. I suck the water out, always from the bottom of the tank because it is there that all the heavy metals are deposited. Then it is a hose pipe straight back to the tank with no adjustments whatsoever...never had a problem in years and years:)

Of course if you want to do a major overhaul You have to pre treat, and there the buckets have to work...

I use a Python. I haven't had a problem with it in over a year now.

When you guys say pretreat you are meaning de-chlorinate right?

If so, you can dechlorinate as the tank is filling up with water from a python.

I just recently moved and had my 125 with 4" of water in it (heavy as **** btw) with all my fish in it. Once I got to my new place and set it up I just got the temp right, hooked up my python and filled. 90% of the water was new chlorinated tap water, but I just added 5 capfulss of prime as it was filling and all was good!
